Best Practices for Maintaining Engineered Stone

  • Clean Spills Promptly: Wipe up spills immediately, especially acidic liquids like lemon/lime juice or vinegar, to prevent them from causing etching. Etch marks on engineered stone are typically caused by acidic substances like lemon/lime juice, vinegar, citrus fruits, tomatoes, wine spills, soda spills, and harsh chemical cleaners that react with the surface. Use a simple cleaner, like Dawn Power Wash to clean the area.  Use a microfiber towel to dry the surface completely.
  • Cutting Boards: Always use cutting boards when preparing food to avoid direct contact between acidic substances and your countertop. While the surface is scratch-resistant, sharp objects can still damage it.
  •  Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners that can damage the surface of your quartz countertop.  Please do not use anything abrasive, like Soft Scrub or Magic Erasers, as they can damage your countertops.
  • Approved Cleaning Agents:  Only use pH-neutral cleaners, specifically designed to ensure gentle yet effective cleaning of your engineered stone countertops without causing damage.  Our favorite safe cleaners are Method Granite Cleaner, and Weiman Granite and Stone Cleaner.

Heat Protection: Place mats or trivets under hot pans and dishes to protect your countertop from heat-induced damage.
